Human Reliability Associates (HRA) was founded in 1983 making it the longest established Human Factors consultancy in the UK. We provide consultancy services, training, and specialist software tools to support safety-critical industries to apply Human Factors.
Consultancy
We specialise in Human Factors Critical Task Reviews (HFCTR) for the oil, gas and chemicals sectors but we also support work to improve safety, technology and working conditions in healthcare, defence and other sectors.

Training
Our Human Reliability Academy platform has allowed us to provide training to clients in the UK, SE Asia and Africa, we have also run workshops with clients in Europe and the US. We have a flagship Safety Critical Task Analysis (SCTA) which is the equivalent of 3 days education with pre-recorded video, exercise, case studies and live webinars. We have half day courses raising awareness of SCTA, Human Factors for Process Safety, and Human Factors for Design.

Covid-19 Update
The HFRM software has enabled us to easily switch to remote working and workshops with clients throughout the pandemic to progress their Human Factors programmes of work. We have facilitated detailed human reliability assessments for tasks, conducted gap analyses to identify where organisational policies can be improved, and contributed to developing better procedures. Our Human Reliability Academy platform means we have been able to meet the rising demand for good quality Human Factors training internationally. On top of this we have contributed to accelerated Covid-19 projects on ventilator design, improved procedures to support medical procedures (e.g. tracheotomies), and guidance for pharmacists taking on more responsibilities and complex decision making.
